Deadlines

Hey All,

Happy Friday! We’ll admit, we’re looking forward to the weekend. With finals next week, and several important meetings on the horizon, plus writing for this blog and working on our ongoing serialization, we’re feeling the heat a bit.

Okay, we’re feeling it a lot.

In terms of this blog: we’re rapidly approaching our two month anniversary. Honestly, this has been the best thing we’ve done in a long time. It’s introduced us to so many great people, and we’ve read so many great blogs/posts. Yes, coming up with content on a daily basis has proved challenging, but it’s been more than worth it. We can’t thank all of you who are reading this for your feedback and thoughts; and we can’t express how wonderful it’s been reading all of your great content.

In terms of our serialization: this has been a lot of work. We’re trying to stick to a schedule of two chapter uploads per week (one on Wednesday, one on Saturday). That’s only 4,000 words a week, which might not seem like a lot but…whew. When you factor in editing time, and planning for future chapters, we usually come right down to the wire. That being said, Wattpad’s been a great experience so far in terms of meeting other writers and having our story read (almost at 100 reads!). We’re a bit nervous, because we always write more quickly when we’re just starting a story (the ideas are flowing, the story still seems fresh); it’s unclear if we’ll be able to keep up our pace as we progress, but we’re certainly going to try.

And, yeah, studying and prepping for client meetings. Neither of us think we’re really bad with procrastinating, but right about now we’re both wishing there were about twelve more hours in the day. And that we’d invested in some day planners. And that we didn’t have Netflix. And that eating was optional.

How do you deal with the pressure of deadlines when they rear their phenomenally ugly heads? Are you a planner, or a procrastinator? Let us know in the comments. As always, danke schoen for reading,

W & W Sawday
